G-3 had a great time working with the Home Depot workers that came to Wilbur to complete a wood project with all of our Kindergarten students! The mini workshop included a free picture frame kit for the children to assemble themselves. The kids loved using the wood glue, hammer, and nails to complete this hands-on project! It was so amazing to see the look of accomplishment on their faces when their picture frames were complete! When we returned to the classroom, the children painted their frames. They really turned out great! The children were able to take home a special pin and certificate from the Home Depot, as well as a flyer for another workshop that will be coming up in Home Depot stores around the area. The children's picture frames are currently drying but will be sent home with a special surprise inside sometime this week. This project was a great way to kick off our "Wood and Paper" unit for science. A big "thank you" to all of the parents / grandparents / aunts who were able to come out and help with this project - we could not have done it without you! :-)
