On Tuesday, February 12th, G-3 celebrated the 100th day of Kindergarten! The children were extremely excited for all of the great activities that we had planned for the day. As the children entered the classroom, they got to walk through the silver streamers stating that they were "100 Day Champs", and were greeted by a large sign on the SMARTBoard that read "Happy 100th Day!!!" In the morning, the children were able to build structures with 100 cups and color in special 100th day coloring pages. Featured below are more pictures of the neat structures and games that the children came up with while using their 100 cups!
As we started with our morning, we added one more day to
our number of days we've been in school, and we were finally able to fill in the last box in our tenth ten-frame! The kids are now able to count to 100 by 1's, 5's, and 10's! They even learned about the hundreds place and why the number "100" is written "1-0-0" (ten full groups of ten - or one group of one hundred, and zero ones). After calendar was over, I issued the class a challenge - I challenged them to have such a fantastic day that they would all receive 100 points on our Class Dojo by the end of the day. Did they meet my challenge?? Stay tuned to the end of the post to find out!
The fun continued as the children completed a writing prompt about what they would buy if they had $100.00. The most popular answer - a limousine. :-) I am so impressed at how well the students are writing their popcorn words in their sentences, and sounding out their words independently! Such a difference from 100 days ago!!! Here are a few pictures of the children hard at work:

Our day continued with the children creating neat "100" day glasses, as well as crowns where they needed to sequence their numbers by counting to 10 all the way up to 100. Every child was able to glue their buses correctly in order from 10 - 100. I was such a proud teacher!!! Below are some pictures of the children sporting their fancy new glasses!

Another fun activity that the students took part in were meeting "Zero the Number Hero"! He is a super hero that only comes out every tenth day! The students made their own Zero the Number Hero on their hundreds chart and colored in every tenth day. Featured to the left is Amina proudly showing off her beautiful work. Lastly, the students in G-3 were asked to complete a couple of projects at home before the 100th day of Kindergarten. The first was to collect 100 items, and the second was to see if each of the twenty students could perform at least five good deeds before the 100th day of school - our 100 good deeds! I am proud to announce that G-3 was able to perform at least 100 by the 100th day of Kindergarten! This class truly is super sweet, and I can think of at least 100 good deeds that they consistently do on a weekly basis - just here in school alone! Pictured below is our hall display of our 100 good deeds!
One of the last math activities that we did for the 100th Day was sorting our 100 Day collections. The children were able to sort their collections by groups of 10. If they finished early, they were able to go back and sort them by groups of 5, since we have been learning how to count to 100 not only by 1's, but by 5's, and 10's as well! I was so impressed at how quickly the students have picked up these skills! Below are pictures of the students with their 100 Day collections. I love to see their proud little faces showing off their hard work! :-)
The best part of the day; however, had to be G-3's outstanding behavior!!! So... were they able to reach 100 points on Class Dojo by the end of the day?? They sure did!!! Way to go G-3!!! As I told you all at the end of the day - I have loved teaching you for 100 days and I look forward to teaching you for 100 more! I love you all! Happy 100th Day!!! XO
